Be Yourself: Mental Women Wellbeing
Vienna, Austria

On June 17, 2023, we held a workshop as part of the Migrant Women Empowerment project in Vienna, Austria.

The "Be yourself: Mental Women Wellbeing" workshop focused on stress and emotional balance, considering factors that could lead migrant women to experience feelings of being lost and depressed in a new country, especially in societies that may not be very open-minded.

The workshop provided strategies for addressing these challenges and discovering inner inspiration.

About Workshop

The workshop was thoughtfully designed to provide migrant women with invaluable tools and techniques for managing stress and cultivating emotional balance. The content of the workshop was tailored to address the challenges that often leave migrant women feeling lost and depressed in new countries, especially in societies that are still evolving in terms of open-mindedness.

Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in a diverse range of activities aimed at promoting holistic well-being and self-discovery:

Breathing Exercises: Breathing exercises were introduced as a foundational practice to anchor participants in the present moment and ease any immediate feelings of stress or unease.

Trust Exercises: These exercises fostered a sense of trust and camaraderie among participants, emphasizing the importance of connection and support within the group.

Group Bonding/Expression Exercises: Through various interactive activities, participants had the opportunity to bond with fellow attendees and express their thoughts and emotions in a safe and supportive environment.

Visualization Exercise: Visualization was used as a powerful tool to help participants envision their desired emotional state and create a positive outlook for their journey ahead.

Connecting Mind with Body: The workshop emphasized the mind-body connection, helping participants understand how their mental and emotional states can impact their physical well-being.

Writing a Letter to Your Present Self: This activity encouraged participants to reflect on their current experiences, challenges, and aspirations, fostering self-awareness and self-compassion.

Dinner and Snack Breaks: The workshop recognized the importance of nourishment, offering dinner and snack breaks to recharge both the body and mind.

By combining these carefully curated activities, the workshop aimed to empower migrant women to take charge of their emotional well-being, even in the face of adversity. The emphasis on self-reflection, community building, and self-care created an environment conducive to healing and personal growth.

Participants left with newfound strategies for managing stress, balancing their emotions, and thriving in their new environments.
